Prompt: 13. Different songs with a shared subject or theme [Protest songs]
Title: 'And I'll Stand Over Your Grave 'till I'm Sure that You're Dead'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters: The Master, the Doctor
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Artist: Bob Dylan
Album: The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
Song: 'Masters of War'
Summary: How we haunt each other, Doctor, you and I.
How we haunt each other, Doctor, you and I. The banes of each other's existences. You, the light that refuses to go dim. And I, the shadow that eclipses you.
It was ever thus.
I don't entirely believe that we can do without each other. This delicate counterbalance of ours should never be undone. I think that, deep down, you feel the same way that I do about it. You may curse my deeds--my misdeeds, perhaps I ought to say--but they give you a reason for being, don't they?
Nevertheless, one day, far into our futures, the time may well come when one of us is forever ended. When this vast universe loses one of us for all time.
If it should ever be me, Doctor, then I have a word of advice. Stand vigil. For as long as it takes, until you're sure you're satisfied.
Because you'd better be sure, you'd better be damned sure, that I won't return to life once again.
Title: 'While They Rend the Skies Asunder'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda (Spoilers for 'Breath of the Wild')
Characters: None
Rating: PG
Warnings: Brief disturbing imagery
Artist: John Brunner
Album: Unknown
Song: 'The H-Bomb's Thunder'
Summary: No one had ever seen such a sky.
There are few, so few, in Hyrule who can remember that bleak and nightmarish day when the Calamity Ganon rose from beneath Hyrule Castle. Though time is passing, the memories refuse to fade.
On that day, the sky turned red. The red of a gaping wound, freshly opened, and bleeding out every drop. As though determined to drown the land, and all who live in it, drenching Hyrule with wave after wave of terror and despair.
No one had ever seen such a sky. No one who can remember it wishes to see it again.
But the strange Towers and Shrines suddenly appear. And with them comes the Blood Moon. It taints the sky in the same bloodstained way.
Those who remember the past now find themselves wishing that they had not lived long enough to see it repeating itself.
