Prompt: 10. Different lyrics that share a phrase anywhere in the titles [That's All]
Title: 'It's Just a Shame, That's All'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Friends (Spoilers for 'The One Where Ross and Rachel Take a Break'/'The One with the Morning After')
Characters: Rachel Greene, Chloe
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Language
Artist: Genesis
Album: That's All
Song: 'That's All'
Summary: "All I did was make him feel better for one night."
"You slept with my boyfriend!"
Rachel felt some gratification as Chloe looked up in shock. Then, the copy girl's eyes began to twinkle.
"Hey, I remember that voice," she beamed. "You must be that Rachel chick Ross told me about. Nice to meet you!" She reached across the counter for a handshake, then shrugged as Rachel recoiled from her hand as though it were a cobra. "Okay. Don't be friendly."
"Why should I be friendly with a bitch who ruined my relationship," Rachel snarled in disgust.
"I didn't ruin anything," Chloe protested, leaning on the counter. "You dumped your boyfriend. He was depressed. All I did was make him feel better for one night."
"Wait a minute. I did not 'dump' Ross. I--"
Chloe rolled her eyes. "Bull. I was hiding right behind the door when you burst in and begged Ross to be his girlfriend again. Again. You wouldn't have said that key word if the relationship hadn't already ended. If anybody ruined that relationship, I kinda think it's you. Ross is cute, in a nerdy way, and sweet, and intelligent. Any woman in this city would be lucky to have him. Face it: You blew a good thing, Rachel. It's a shame you didn't think things through a little better that night."
Flummoxed, Rachel stared at her supposed rival. No arguments could spring to mind; she felt as blank as one of the sheets of paper in any of the copying machines in this building.
"Ohh, you really are a little slut, aren't you," she settled for growling.
The expression on Chloe's face shattered her. It was the look of someone who'd been called far worse names, by far better people, far too many times to bother to give a damn.
"Maybe," she shot back with an uncaring shrug. "But at least I don't lie to myself about it. You lied to yourself by thinking you were mature enough to be in a grown-up relationship. If you had a diamond, you'd throw it in the sewer because it wasn't big enough. Don't blame someone you don't even know, when you're the one who screwed up. Now, do you have anything you need copied? Because, if you don't, you're just wasting my time, and embarrassing yourself in front of my customers."
"Fine," Rachel muttered, stomping past three strangers who were eyeing her in discomfort. "I'm leaving. And I'm never coming into this place again."
"That's fine by me," Chloe cheerfully chirped. "Have a nice day!"
Title: 'That's All I Wanted, But Sometimes Love Can be Mistaken for a Crime'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda (Spoilers for 'Breath of the Wild')
Characters: Muzu
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Artist: George Michael
Album: Faith
Song: 'Father Figure'
Summary: For the first time in a century, Muzu feels doubts begin to form.
He who stands here...the man
called Link...is the one whom
my sister, Mipha, had feelings for.
~*~ Prince Sidon
Sidon's declaration pierces Muzu through the heart, like an arrow that's been aimed too well.
How can the words be true? The Prince has never been one to engage in deception; he's much too noble for such tactics. But to suggest, even for a moment, that Mipha could have loved any mere Hylian, much less one who let her die one hundred years ago...the notion is laughable, at best. At the worst, it is a grave insult to all Zora. Nothing short of criminal.
However...Muzu cannot deny that the Zora Armor that the late Princess crafted so lovingly suits Link perfectly. None of their own race could wear it so well. It is, indeed, a flawless fit.
Can he...have been rash, to judge the Hylian boy so harshly? Was he mistaken, to hate him with such intensity? To lay the blame for Mipha's untimely death at his feet, when she volunteered her services to all of Hyrule so readily?
For the first time in a century, Muzu feels doubts begin to form. In all those years that he tutored Mipha, and watched her grow into a being of compassion and kindness, he'd longed only for her happiness.
If Mipha's happiness had been bound up in this Hylian, then it's hardly for Muzu to judge or condemn. Perhaps she'd known what she was doing, all along.
