Title: 'Might Take a Little Crime'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Pokémon
Characters: Giovanni
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Notes: Crossposted to
drabble_zone
Artist: Duran Duran
Album/Source: Duran Duran
Prompt: Slow Song
Song: 'Come Undone'
Summary: It's common knowledge that money isn't everything.
It's common knowledge that money isn't everything. While it's pleasant enough to have, particularly in large quantities, there's more to the world than the pursuit of the almighty Pokémon Dollar. A man would have to be a damned fool to think any differently.
Giovanni knows that he is many things. But he knows that the one thing he's not is a fool, damned or otherwise. Turning a tidy profit is all very well. At the end of the day, though, it's hardly the sole driving force behind his illicit dealings. Another thing keeps Giovanni going.
Power. That's the ultimate currency.
Title: 'Wake You Up from Half a World Away'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Doctor Who (Spoilers for 'Doomsday')
Characters: Tenth Doctor
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Artist: The Goo Goo Dolls
Album: Something for the Rest of Us
Prompt: Lyric with "sleep" or "wake"
Song: 'Home'
Summary: He's got to see her again, just one last time.
Rose is gone.
It isn't as though the Doctor never saw it coming. Eventually, he loses those he cares about. It never fails. Rose might have meant it when she promised to never leave, but that promise was one that was destined to never be kept.
The Doctor just never expected to lose her quite so soon.
He's got to see her again, just one last time. Hear her voice again. Speak to her. If he's never going to see Rose again for the rest of both of their lives, then the universe can at least grant him one more opportunity.
The star the Doctor selects is one that time has guaranteed will never develop a planetary system. It could die an early death, and nothing in the universe will suffer for it. He doesn't like to think in terms of anything being fair game; but this star qualifies, if anything does.
Determinedly, he uses that star's energy to power a peephole into the universe that pulled his Rose away. There's not enough time to waste on anything elaborate; but it should at least be just enough for him to be able to find her, wherever on her other Earth she might be.
Calling out across the intangible barrier that divides them, the Doctor hopes for the best.
Title: 'Some Came to Keep the Dark Away'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda (Spoilers for Tears of the Kingdom)
Characters: Princess Zelda
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Artist: Melanie
Album: Candles in the Rain
Prompt: '70s song
Song: 'Lay Down (Candles in the Rain)'
Summary: Could that be why she's here, now?
Zelda isn't sure of just what she should do. She's been unexpectedly caught up in Hyrule's past, seeing the land that she loves from a different temporal angle.
Though this past is far enough removed from her own era to be more legends than anything else, Zelda knows that her involvement could be catastrophic. But, just as in her time, this beautiful land is in danger. A darkness is threatening to swallow Hyrule whole.
Could that be why she's here, now? To bear witness to the past that she studied so eagerly?
Or can she do more? Can she help Rauru and Sonia, her own ancestors, to keep that darkness at bay before her own Hyrule is destroyed?
Title: 'How Can You Run When You Know'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters: Amy Pond, Rory Williams
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Artist: Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young
Album: 4 Way Street
Prompt: Angry song
Song: 'Ohio'
Summary: That scenario had the potential to spell utter disaster.
The sight of Amy running at top speed through the TARDIS corridors almost made Rory dizzy from the speed.
Nervously, he pursued. "Amy, where are you going? Why are you running like that?"
"The Doctor's in the galley," she hollered over her shoulder, her pace not slowing. "The clumsy idiot's trying to cook a gourmet dinner that he's never tried to make before!"
Oh, dear. That scenario had the potential to spell utter disaster.
"Then why are you running away from the problem," Rory called. "Shouldn't you be running toward the galley, to try to stop the Doctor?"
"I'm running right back in there again," she answered, "as soon as I can figure out where that moron hid the fire extinguisher!"
Title: 'それぞれの未来へ [Onward to Our Own Futures]'
Author:
but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Pokémon (Spoilers for Pokémon Black/White)
Characters: Hilda
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Artist: Kageyama Shota
Album: Pokémon Black & Pokémon White: Super Music Collection
Prompt: Instrumental song
Song: 'ENDING~それぞれの未来へ~'
Summary: Your heart feels a strange, hollow ache suddenly.
N is gone.
In such a rush that you nearly stumble over your own feet, you hurry to the broad hole that's been blown into the wall of N's throne room, trying to catch one last glimpse. You squint, eyes scanning the sky, looking for the slightest sight of N.
But he's already gone. Gone, as though he'd never even been there. As though he'd never haunted your path, like some strange but fascinating phantom.
Your heart feels a strange, hollow ache suddenly. It makes no sense. Why should N's departure leave you feeling so empty?
As tangled as your paths have been, they've diverged without warning. You each have separate roads to walk, now.
Deep down, whatever each of your futures might hold in store, you hope that maybe, just maybe, your roads will meet again.
