Title: 'When My Time Comes, Forget the Wrong that I've Done'
Author: [personal profile] but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Pokémon (Spoilers for Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver)
Characters: Silver
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Notes: Lyric with "remember" or "forget"

Artist: Linkin Park
Album: Minutes to Midnight
Song: 'Leave Out All The Rest'

Summary: Fighting fire with fire has only served to make matters worse.

Silver is beginning to regret his actions, and the rashness that drove him to them.

He's always resented Team Rocket for taking his father's attention away from him, where it belonged. Has tried to drive them out of Johto single-handedly.

But to try to beat Rocket with their own tactics, starting out with a stolen partner Pokémon...he had no right to stoop to that level. Fighting fire with fire has only served to make matters worse. He's no match for the team that his father created.

Now, Silver realizes the wrongness of his actions. Now, he knows better. At any rate, he hopes that he's learning from the mistakes that he's made.

Title: 'You're All that I Can Trust, Facing the Darkest Days'
Author: [personal profile] but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Doctor Who (takes place between 'The Angels Take Manhattan', and 'The Snowmen')
Characters: The Eleventh Doctor, the TARDIS
Rating: PG
Warnings: Mild depressing concepts
Notes: Song with a title one word long

Artist: Madonna
Album: Rebel Heart
Song: 'Ghosttown'

Summary: I'm so tired of giving a damn, just to be hurt. Again.

The TARDIS is all that I have left to me, these days. Because the old girl is the only thing that hasn't left me behind.

I've lost my Ponds. And they're hardly the first. I've lost so many people, over the years. People I loved. People I carried in both of these easily-wounded hearts.

That's a mistake that I'm not willing to let myself make again. That terrible mistake of caring. Anyone who enters my life stands a good chance of winding up dead. Just because Amy and Rory got to live out their lives, and reach a ripe, old age, that doesn't make the tragedy any less. They're still dead. Still gone, beyond my reach.

I don't want to take that risk again. To let anyone else into my hearts. I'm so tired of giving a damn, just to be hurt. Again.

The TARDIS...I trust her not to leave me. She neither can, nor will.

Perhaps I've condemned myself, both of us, to a lonely existence.

But I'd rather be lonely, than to love again.

Title: 'Electric Eyes that You Can't Ignore'
Author: [personal profile] but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Original Fiction
Characters: Original
Rating: PG
Warnings: Some intrusiveness
Notes: '80s song

Artist: Billy Ocean
Album: Single Release
Song: 'Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)'

Summary: You're beginning to think that George Orwell was right.

You're beginning to think that George Orwell was right.

No matter where you turn, there's a camera somewhere close by. Cameras in your phone; cameras in your computer. Cameras in every store, every building, that you enter. Even if you can't see the lens yourself, you know that, somewhere around, something is still hidden away, recording all the time.

There are eyes everywhere. Watching every single move that every single person makes. They're impossible to ignore. Electronic spies, keeping close tabs.

Once upon a safer, saner time, the idea could have been dismissed as paranoia.

But is it really paranoia, when the paranoid delusions are based upon the truth?

Title: 'Moving Slowly As If in a Dream'
Author: [personal profile] but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: Labyrinth
Characters: Sarah
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Notes: Romantic song

Artist: Ephraim Lewis
Album: Skin
Song: 'Drowning in Your Eyes'

Summary: This place feels just like something out of a dream.

This place feels just like something out of a dream.

Sarah isn't sure how she came to be in this ballroom. If that is, in fact, what it is; it feels so close, so tightly contained. Too difficult to dance in, even as she's swept away.

It's beautiful. But she can sense some wrongness to the room. That she's not meant to be here. Rather, there's somewhere else that she needs to be. Something important that she ought to be doing, instead of drifting like this.

Something important...but what could be so important, that Sarah feels the need to be anywhere but here?

She doesn't know, any more than she knows how she got here.

Nonetheless, that feeling refuses to fade.

Title: 'There, Beyond the Bounds of Your Weak Imagination'
Author: [personal profile] but_can_i_be_trusted
Fandom: The Legend of Zelda
Characters: Ganondorf, Link
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Mild implied violence; implied murder
Notes: Song with an article in the title

Artist: Genesis
Album: A Trick of the Tail
Song: 'A Trick of the Tail'

Summary: His grasp shifts, lifting Hyrule's sole hope up to meet his gaze eye to eye.

"You lack imagination," Ganondorf growls, staring down at his would-be opponent.

He pins the throat of the youth--the boy known as Link--with one broad hand, pressing him tightly to the ground. There's an uncharacteristic panic in the supposed hero's eyes, where he would normally appear so stoic.

Ganondorf's grip tightens slightly, enough to make that fear bloom like a flower in his grasp. A flower that's waiting to be crushed without mercy.

"That's the trouble with this whole kingdom," he adds. "Everyone here, every last Hylian, is lacking in the vision necessary to rule Hyrule as it deserves. Power is not meant for weaklings; they haven't the slightest idea of how to use it to its full potential."

His grasp shifts, lifting Hyrule's sole hope up to meet his gaze eye to eye. Link winces in his hand, the pain too great to ignore.

Ganondorf laughs, a dark, deadly sound; and he can feel the youth trembling beneath his palm.

"To think that the people of this land ever thought of putting their faith in the likes of you," he snarls, his fingers swiftly squeezing the life from Hyrule's failed salvation.
